I would like to think that when I’m wrong; I’ll say I’m wrong. And when it comes to Harry Redknapp and Tottenham’s Champions League campaign….I was wrong.

Now I am not saying I now preach at the church of Redknapp but I admire what he has done in the tournament so far. How many people had Spurs down to win their group? I know I didn’t!

After the scare he got against Young Boys in Bern he has re-thought his tactics and the signing for Rafael van der Vaart has been a master-stroke. Against Werder Bremen in the opening Matchday I expected Spurs to line up as a 4-4-2 and the Germans to come out on top. Harry played his normal defence and midfield but played van der Vaart behind Crouch, with more bodies in midfield it worked well, Pasanen’s O.G and Crouch’s goal gave the Londoners a great start. Of course goals from Almeida and Marin levelled the game, Unfortunate to get pegged back, but any point away from home in Europe is a great achievement.

Tottenham’s first Champions League match at home was a fantastic result, with the usual 4-4-2 I though Twente would fair quite well but it wasn’t to be. Four second half goals from Spurs, three penalties given at home but a win is a win.

Harry and his men then travelled to the San Siro and for 45 minutes I think everyone thought this was what was to come for Tottenham. Gareth Bales two late goals masked the defeat a little, it was 4-1 in the up to the 91 st minute remember, but down to 10 men and without Modric and van der Vaart. The late goals would give Redknapp some positives to focus on.

Don’t want to take anything away from Spurs win at home against Inter, but it was clear to most people the “Rafa Effect” was in full swing and this was not the same team crowned European Champions back in May. Again with van der Vaart playing behind Crouch this combination has been deadly, the little knock downs to the Dutchman have caused so many problems. A great 3-1 win at home to Inter.

You could say Tottenham have faced teams at the right time. Werder came to London on an awful run, Thomas Schaff had tendered his resignation but was declined. The Germans far from a full strength side, but you can only beat what’s in front of you. Harry took advantage of this, with two up top they dominated and Younes Kaboul’s early goal set them on their way to a 3-0 win.

With qualification already confirmed Harry went 4-4-2 away in Enschede and you saw a much more open game which led to a six goal thriller, the draw alongside Werder beating Inter confirmed Spurs had won the group, this could either be a good thing or a bad thing ahead of the Last 16 draw.

Spurs could face AS Roma, Marseille or AC Milan, Lyon and Valencia are also possible opponents, and I’m sure most British press will be touting FC Copenhagen as the best draw, no they are not as strong as say Milan, but they are not to be taken lightly.

Moving into the knockout stage it is important to keep things tight. I would hope Harry sticks by the 4-5-1 formation that has served him well in the competition, going with two upfront against some of the bigger teams could be suicide.

Good Luck to Spurs, they have done fantastic job getting to the Last 16 not many people picked them to get this far, and I doubt people will be so quick to write them off once again, One of the best teams in England going forward, although maybe not the best in defence.

How far they get will depend on how kind the draw is next week. I am sure there will be a few teams on that list that won’t fancy a trip to White Hart Lane come February.

I fancy Spurs to make the 1/4 finals. Over two legs, I think they should have enough against all those teams. If I were ‘Arry, I would fancy Roma or Marseille in the next round. Copenhagen have banana skin written all over them!

I thought from the start Spurs would go through. Spurs can go a long way with the bit of luck that everybody needs at this part of the tournament.

Yeah that’s it, a decent draw and a bit of luck and you could be in the Quarter-Finals, then who knows what can happen.

Roma for me, they have the potential to be either amazing or awful, maybe a little bit like Spurs
