So I know everyman and their dog has gone and done their awards already, but I wanted to take some time and give out awards to the people that have released some fantastic work and inspired bloggers all over the world.
With the help of my podcast team, and we couldn’t nominate ourselves: I give you the 2010 gibfootballshow awards.
Best Individual Blog – The Equaliser – Chris is a fantastic writer, he leaves no stone uncovered and has brought out some of the best work this year, don’t forget his excellent Top 20 Managers and My Favourite Footballer features.
Honourable mentions – Mirko Bolesan , Talking About Football , The Shin Guardian
Best Amateur Podcast – Two Footed Tackle – Although by listening to the podcast you would think it was a professional job, these guys produce a fantastic show crammed with great chat and superb guests. Hopefully more of the same to come in 2011.
Honourable mentions – Football Pubcast , The Terrace Podcast , Football Ramble
Best Niche Website – Swiss Ramble – What can I say about this guys that hasn’t been said already. A fantastic site, delves deeper into clubs finances than anyone has before. Truck loads of information but every sentence is as interesting as the next. His Barcelona piece was fantastic, I cringed reading about Celtic’s exploits, a must read blog if you don’t already.
Honourable mentions – Polish Scout , , The Ministry of Glove , Yanks Abroad , Zonal Marking
Best European Website – European Football Weekends – Danny gives us all an insight into what it is like to be a supporter of different clubs all over the world. There is nowhere this man won’t go to cover a game. Also provides great interviews with some of the best minds in the football world.
Honourable mention – GhostGoal , Portugoal.net , Ganninaway
Best Worldwide Website – Hasta El Gol Siempre – Sam Kelly consistently delivers great pieces on the goings on in Argentina, has recently added the superb “Hand of Pod” podcast to his armoury.

Twitter Personality of the Year – – Iain never fails to make me smile, some of his tweets have seen tea fly from my mouth. He then brought Heidenheim to the world, the guy is a legend – and you can read my interview with him here.
Honorable mentions – , ,
Website of the Year – The Run of Play – Just a fantastic site, the writer I think most of us want to be. His style is very unique but simply fantastic. His nearly 4000 followers on twitter will back up how good this man is.
Well done to all the winners, and the honourable mentions you have made it a joy to be part of the blogging world.
Personal Thank You’s
Just to finish off I would just like to thank a few people for the year that I’ve had. First of all my fiancé Laura for putting up with my hours watching football and being in front of a computer. Told you I wasn’t wasting my time.
I need to thank Brent Atema not just for being on my podcast, but it was Brent that let me appear on his show which lead to the inspiration to launch my podcast, so without Brent who knows what would have happened.
So thanks go to Chris Mayer, Charlie Anderson, Gav Stone, and Ethan Dean-Richards, thanks for saying yes to appearing on the podcast and making it the success it has become, you guys make as much of the content as I do, any success I have with the show is equally yours. Well Done. Let’s hope to more in 2011.
Thanks also go to Grant Russell of STV Sport, finding a certain piece I had written about FC Utrecht and not only putting it up on their site but asking me to contribute to a fantastic website and proper launching me into this football blogging world. A year ago I was writing a tiny preview of the African Cup of Nations that no one read. Working for STV has provided me a platform to launch from, I look forward to continuing the work into 2011 and seeing where things go.
The final thanks go to anyone who has ever read my work, listened to the podcast and retweeted any of my work. Without you guys I would be nothing, I hope I can continue to entertain in the coming year.
Thanks to everyone for being involved in my work in the numerous ways possible, you’ve helped to make 2010 a fantastic year. I wouldn’t have predicted any of this 12 months ago, so who knows what the year can bring.
All great worthy winners. Well done on a great year & a better one in 2011.
Cheers mate, was trying to think of a category for you but couldn’t shoehorn you in
